چکیده

Cervical spine injuries are a fairly common consequence of mechanical impact on the human body. The subaxial level cervical accounts for approximately half to 2/3 these injuries. Despite numerous classification systems that exist describing injuries, recommendations treatment strategy very limited, and currently none them is universal generally accepted. Consequently, decisions based individual experience specialist, but not evidence or algorithms. While system mechanism trauma originally proposed by B.L. Allen et al. subsequently modified J.H. Harris Jr al., was comprehensive, lacked evidence, which some extent limited its clinical applicability. Similarly, Subaxial Injury Classification System Spine Trauma Group, had no distinct clinically significant patterns morphological damage. This fact hindered standardization unification tactical approaches. As an attempt solve this problem, in 2016 Alexander Vaccaro, together with AO Spine, injury system, using principle already existing AOSpine thoracolumbar aim project develop effective provides clear, relevant descriptions patterns, should contribute determination strategy. at follows same hierarchical approach as previous classifications, namely, it characterizes 4 parameters: (1) morphology, (2) facet damage, (3) neurological status, (4) specific modifiers. morphology divided into 3 subgroups injuries: A (compression), B (flexion-distraction), C (dislocations displacements). Damage types 5 (A0-A4) (B1-B3) subtypes, respectively. When damage joints, subtypes distinguished: F1 (fracture without displacement), F2 (unstable fracture), F3 (floating lateral mass) F4 (dislocation). also integrates assessment 6 subtype). In addition, includes modifiers designed better detail number pathological conditions. performance evaluation SCICS showed moderate range consistency reproducibility. Currently, quantitative scale assessing severity classes has been proposed, also, certain extent, contributes decision-making regarding

Subaxial cervical spine injury classification systems.

• The Subaxial Injury Classification (SLIC) and severity scale is recommended as a classification system for spinal cord injury. This system includes morphological, ligamentous, and neurological information in its scoring, thus communicating a greater amount of information regarding the extent of the patient’s injury. Its overall inter-rater reliability has an intraclass correlation coefficient...

Neglected traumatic dislocation of the subaxial cervical spine.

The optimal method for the management of neglected traumatic bifacetal dislocation of the subaxial cervical spine has not been established. We treated four patients in whom the mean delay between injury and presentation was four months (1 to 5). There were two dislocations at the C5-6 level and one each at C4-5 and C3-4. The mean age of the patients was 48.2 years (27 to 60). Each patient prese...

Early outcome of surgical intervention in subaxial cervical spine injuries.

OBJECTIVE To determine the surgical outcome of patients with axial cervical spine fractures. METHODS The study was conducted at the Spine Unit of Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar, and Aman Hospital, Peshawar, from January 2012 to March 2013. Patients with sub-axial cervical spine fractures were treated surgically. The outcome was measured using Visual Analogue Score, Neck Disability Index,...

Therapeutic strategy for traumatic instability of subaxial cervical spine.

BACKGROUND A simple, safe and effective therapeutic strategy for traumatic instability of the subaxial cervical spine, as well as its prognostic assessment, is still controversial. METHODS The therapeutic options for 83 patients of traumatic instability of the subaxial cervical spine, whose average age was 35 years, were determined, according to the Allen-Ferguson classification, general heal...
